Experience
Geoffrey Kittredge, a partner in the firm’s London office, focuses his practice on private equity and investment fund formation. Labeled a “private equity ace” by Legal Week, he is also ranked as a leading individual in Chambers UK 2010, where he is described as “one of the foremost reasons Debevoise is so respected”, in the Legal Media Group Guide to the World’s Leading Private Equity Lawyers and in the PLC Cross-border Private Equity Handbook 2010. He is described as “one of the best funds lawyers in Europe” in The International Who’s Who of Private Funds Lawyers 2008 and is highly recommended in the UK Legal 500 2009. Mr. Kittredge represents a broad range of international private equity and other private investment funds and their sponsors, including leveraged buyout, mezzanine, real estate and secondaries funds, as well as funds of funds.
Mr. Kittredge has been in Europe since 1999 and in London since 2002, where he is Co-Chair of Debevoise’s European Private Equity Funds Group.
Mr. Kittredge was a significant contributor to the Debevoise & Plimpton European Private Equity Handbook (2005) and regularly contributes to the Debevoise & Plimpton Private Equity Report, including articles on “Spinouts of Private Equity Funds”, “UK Freedom of Information Act Could Spell Trouble for Private Funds”, “Advisory Committees in US and European Private Equity Funds” and “Emerging Markets Shine in a Difficult Year”.
Mr. Kittredge received his B.A. in 1984 from the University of Virginia in Political Philosophy and English Literature, his M.B.A. in 1992 from Columbia University in Finance and Business Economics and his J.D. in 1996, from New York University where he was an Editor of the Law Review. He was admitted to the New York bar in 1997.
