Counsel Carl Riehl Recognized for Outstanding Pro Bono Legal Work by the New York Neo-Futurists

25 October 2016

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP Counsel Carl Riehl has been recognized for his outstanding pro bono legal work for the New York Neo-Futurists. Mr. Riehl has provided general outside counsel services to the New York Neo-Futurists for over a decade. He initially helped NYNF obtain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, and has since assisted with a variety of contractual, employment, and corporate organizational matters, as well as providing advice with respect to a variety of First Amendment, copyright, and licensing issues.

Mr. Riehl is a counsel in Debevoise’s Litigation Department and its Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property and International Dispute Resolution Practice Groups. He has litigation experience in the areas of securities, consumer fraud, real estate, patent, trademark, copyright, bankruptcy, trusts and estates, white collar crime, insurance and international arbitration.

The New York Neo-Futurists use a new approach to performance which advocates the complete awareness and inclusion of the actual world within the theater in order to achieve a goal: to bring people to a greater understanding of themselves and each other. Rather than upholding contemporary theatrical conventions of character, setting, plot, and the separation of audience and performer, Neo-Futurism aims to present actual life on stage by creating a world in the theater which has no pretense or illusion.

The New York Neo-Futurist 2016 Gala will be held on November 14th in New York.
