Mary Beth Hogan Recognized Among New York Law Journal’s “Top Women in Law”

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is pleased to announce that Mary Beth Hogan has been recognized by the New York Law Journal in its inaugural list of “Top Women in Law.” According to the publication, the recognition the select list of lawyers “aims to shine a light on the outstanding work being done by female attorneys across New York state who have had notable achievements over the past year.”

Ms. Hogan, Co-Chair of Debevoise’s Litigation Department, has a broad-gauged litigation and investigations practice focused on regulatory investigations and enforcement actions involving the Department of Justice, State Attorneys General, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, New York’s Department of Financial Services and other federal and state regulators. In the past several years, she has represented a number of large financial institutions on various mortgage- and credit card-related enforcement actions. Ms. Hogan is also a leading expert in the area of school sexual abuse and is retained frequently by school boards of directors to conduct independent investigations of current or past allegations of sexual abuse or other sensitive issues.

Ms. Hogan was honored as “Lawyer of the Year” for Gender Diversity Leadership at the 2015 Chambers USA, “Up & Coming Litigation Lawyer of the Year” at the 2012 Chambers USA Women in Law Awards, and among Profiles in Diversity Journal’s “Women Worth Watching” in 2013. In 2016, she was named to Benchmark Litigation’s “Top 250 Women in Litigation.” Ms. Hogan was also featured in 2013 documentary on The New York Times website, “Great Expectations for Female Lawyers,” a follow-up from a 2001 New York Times Magazine article in which 21 women lawyers at Debevoise were profiled and interviewed about the career prospects for women in law firms.

Ms. Hogan has served on the Board of Directors of Catalyst, a pre-eminent international organization that studies issues associated with women in business and promotes the creation of opportunities for women pursuing business careers, since 2006, and currently chairs the board’s nominating and governance committee.
