Debevoise Receives Two Awards for China Life IPO

Debevoise was presented with the "Insurance Deal of the Year" award and the "International IPO Deal of the Year" award by Asian Legal Business for its representation of China Life in its $3 billion IPO, the world’s largest IPO in 2003. ALB recognized what it deems "some of the best legal work of the year" with its inaugural "China Deals of the Year" awards. The China Life IPO received International Financial Law Review's "Equity Deal of the Year" award and four FinanceAsia awards including "Deal of the Year," "Best Equity Deal," "Best IPO," and "Best Privatization."
The Debevoise team, who handled the China Life IPO and its NYSE listing, was led by partner James Scoville in the London office and International Counsel Li Li in Shanghai and included partners Wolcott Dunham and Seth Rosen in New York, partner Jeffrey Wood and associates Andrew Lo and David Lin in Hong Kong, associates Richard Guo and Margaret Bi in Shanghai, associate Stephen Hsu in Paris and associate Hillel Jacobson (for tax matters) in New York.
