Debevoise Receives Highest Rating in Corporate Equality Index for Third Year in a Row
October 4, 2010
Debevoise & Plimpton LLP achieved a top rating of 100% in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which examines various industries' corporate policies regarding LGBT employees.
This was the third consecutive year that Debevoise received this honor. The CEI rated 618 private businesses, including 134 law firms, on a scale of 0% to 100%. Those companies that received a rating of 100% are recognized as "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality."
Factors used in the rating included whether the business had a written non-discrimination policy and training covering sexual orientation and gender identity; offered transgender inclusive insurance coverage; supported same-sex partners of employees with health insurance, bereavement and family leave policies; had LGBT employee groups; engaged in appropriate and respectful advertising to the community; contributed to community organizations; and declined to engage in any activities that would undermine the goal of equal rights for LGBT people.
Based in Washington, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of the nation's largest advocacy groups for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans.
