Debevoise Partners Mary Beth Hogan and Mary Jo White Recognized in 2012 Chambers USA Women in Law Awards

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP partners Mary Beth Hogan and Mary Jo White were honored by Chambers & Partners at the 2012 Chambers USA Women in Law Awards ceremony held at The Plaza in New York on February 2nd, 2012. More than 200 guests attended the event, which was supported by America's leading law firms and corporate counsel, honoring the outstanding female stars of the U.S. legal community. Debevoise presiding partner, Michael W. Blair, joined other senior firm and in-house lawyers in participating as presenters at the event.
Chambers recognized Mary Beth Hogan as the Up & Coming Litigation Lawyer of the Year. She is a member of the firm’s Management Committee and co-founder of the firm's Women’s Resource Group. Her practice focuses on white collar, regulatory, qui tam and employment actions as well as internal investigations involving claims of employee misconduct, fraud, discrimination and sexual harassment. Ms. Hogan’s work spans industries including financial services, banking, insurance and law firms. In her pro bono work, Ms. Hogan has focused on conditions of confinement for mentally ill prisoners, voting rights and low income housing. She serves on the Board of Directors of Catalyst and is President-elect of the Board of Directors of Nazareth Housing. She is also on the Board of Trustees of the Federal Bar Council and a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the American Bar Association.
Chambers named Mary Jo White Regulatory Lawyer of the Year. Ms. White is Co-Chair of the firm’s Litigation Department, leading a team of over 200 lawyers. She represents some of the nation’s most prominent companies and senior executives in high-profile matters, conducting internal investigations and defending them against government allegations of white-collar corporate crime or securities law violations, as well as litigating other matters related to business disputes and crises. Earlier, she served for nine years as US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, the only woman to hold that position in the more than 200-year history of that office. Ms. White is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International College of Trial Lawyers and the recipient of numerous awards. In addition, Ms. White has served as a Director of The NASDAQ Stock Exchange, and on its Executive, Audit and Policy Committee. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
