Debevoise & Plimpton Honored By Urban Justice Center
July 1, 2003
Debevoise & Plimpton was honored for its "extraordinary pro bono efforts" and its contributions to the Urban Justice Center (UJC) at the UJC’s 17th Annual Benefit on June 25, 2003.
Debevoise lawyers have worked with lawyers at the Urban Justice Center on various pro bono matters since the late 1980s. During the past few years, Debevoise lawyers have worked with the Urban Justice Center as pro bono co-counsel on several major matters, including Brad H. v. City of New York, a successful challenge to the City’s practice of releasing jail inmates being treated for mental illness without planning for their continued care upon their release to the community.
This year’s ceremony was the inauguration of the Urban Justice Awards, which will now be given annually to recognize contributions by firms and individuals to the UJC and its clients.
