Debevoise Again Receives Highest Rating in Corporate Equality Index and Is Recognized as One of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality”
September 14, 2009
For the second consecutive year, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP achieved the top rating of 100 percent in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which examines various industries’ corporate policies affecting LGBT employees. The 2010 CEI rated a total of 590 private businesses, including 127 law firms, on a scale of 0 percent to 100 percent. Businesses that achieve a rating of 100 percent in the report are recognized as “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.”
Factors used in the rating included whether the business had a written non-discrimination policy and training covering sexual orientation and gender identity; offered transgender-inclusive insurance coverage; supported same-sex partners of employees with health insurance, bereavement and family leave policies; had LGBT employee groups; engaged in appropriate and respectful advertising to the community; contributed to community organizations; and declined to engage in any activities that would undermine the goal of equal rights for LGBT people.
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality.
