Debevoise is pleased to announce that Naomi Aoyama has been named Counsel, Gerard Crowley Saviola has been named International Counsel and Tom Epps has joined the firm as International Counsel.

Naomi Aoyama

Naomi AoyamaDebevoise is pleased to announce that Naomi Aoyama, based in the firm's New York office, was named Counsel to the firm on January, 4, 2009. She is a member of the Corporate Department.

Ms. Aoyama's practice focuses on international projects, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project finance and other transactions. Prior to joining Debevoise in 1999, Ms. Aoyama worked as an associate on various corporate transactions for Japanese and international clients at Nishimura & Asahi (formerly Nishimura & Partners). She received her LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School (1999), completed a two-year legal apprenticeship at the Legal Training & Research Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan (1992-1994), and received her LL.B. from the University of Tokyo (1991). She is admitted to the Bar in New York and Japan.

She has recently been involved in the negotiation of a number of cross-border and U.S. transactions involving acquisitions, formation of joint ventures and sales of joint venture interests across various industries.

Tom Epps

Tom EppsDebevoise is pleased to announce that Tom Epps, based in the firm's London office, joined the firm as International Counsel on February 15, 2010. He is a member of the International Corporate Investigations and Defence Group and the International Dispute Resolution Group.

Mr. Epps's practice focuses on business crime and regulation, specializing in cross-border fraud and corruption investigations.
He has expertise both in representing those suspected of committing fraud and those compelled to give evidence as witnesses in fraud proceedings. He has extensive experience advising defendants involved in Financial Services Authority investigations, including matters concerning allegations of insider dealing/market abuse.

He graduated with an LLB (Hons) from Manchester University in 1991 and obtained the LSF from Guildford College of Law in 1999.

Gerard Crowley Saviola

Gerard Crowley SaviolaDebevoise is pleased to announce that Gerard Crowley Saviola, based in the firm's London office, was named International Counsel to the firm on January 4, 2010. He is a member of the Corporate Department.

Mr. Saviola's practice focuses on advising institutional and boutique sponsors of private equity investment funds in Europe, Asia and the United States, including leveraged buyout funds, emerging markets funds, funds of funds and mezzanine funds, as well as a broad range of institutional investors in international investment funds and private equity acquisitions. Mr. Saviola joined the firm in 2001 and was resident in the firmís New York and Paris offices. After joining the London office in 2004, where he currently resides, he was resident in the Hong Kong office in 2007. Mr. Saviola received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law (2001), where he was a member of the Editorial Board of the University of Virginia Law Review, and his B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Virginia (1997).

Mr. Saviola represents numerous investment fund sponsors and investors, including AREA Property Partners, Baring Private Equity Asia, Baring Vostok Capital Partners, International Finance Corporation, Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia, Park Square Capital Partners and the SUN Group of Companies.
