Matthew Fishbein is a litigation partner whose practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations and complex commercial litigation. He has extensive experience at the trial and appellate levels in the areas of securities fraud, government contract fraud, mail fraud, environmental crime, political corruption and money laundering. Mr. Fishbein served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York as Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1993 to 1997, and Chief of the Criminal Division from 1995 to 1997. He also served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, as Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1992 to 1993, Chief of the Special Prosecutions Unit from 1991 to 1992, Chief of the Appeals Division from 1989 to 1991 and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1985 to 1989. During his tenure, he twice received the Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. Chambers USA (2006) recommends Mr. Fishbein as a leader in litigation in the field of white collar crime and government investigations, and calls him “‘smart thoughtful and strong’, with profound experience at trial and appellate levels of all facets of securities and contract fraud and money laundering.” He is also recognized as a leader in White Collar Crime by Chambers USA (2008) and IFLR Benchmark: Litigation (2008).
