Agustin Spotorno is an international disputes support lawyer based in London and a member of the International Dispute Resolution Group.
Mr. Spotorno’s practice focuses on international arbitration and public international law. He has represented private clients and States across multiple jurisdictions in investor-State and international commercial arbitrations governed by various common and civil law systems (notably in Europe and Latin America) and under the auspices of ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and ICSID. He has experience across a number of industries including energy and natural resources, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and financial services.
Mr. Spotorno joined Debevoise in 2020, prior to which he was Tribunal Secretary and Assistant to a leading international arbitrator in London and Hong Kong, focusing on complex and multijurisdictional international commercial and investment arbitrations in the oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and financial services industries, both in the Middle East and Latin America. Mr. Spotorno worked for three years as an Argentine-qualified lawyer at two leading Argentine law firms and a multinational Spanish company, focusing on M&A, corporate law and dispute resolution in the oil and gas, automobile, mining and telecommunication industries.
Mr. Spotorno holds an LL.B from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Argentina (Hons), a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Law from the University of Buenos Aires (Hons), and an LL.M (Distinction) in International and Comparative Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary, University of London.
He is admitted to practise as Abogado in Argentina, and a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales.
Mr. Spotorno publishes regularly in journals including the CIArb International Journal of Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Management; Wolters Kluwer's Business Law Review; Thomson Reuters' La Ley; Errepar and Wolter Kluwer's Arbitration Blog.
He is a Spanish native speaker and has working knowledge of French.
