Alex S. Kamath is a law clerk in the Litigation Department.Mr. Kamath joined Debevoise in 2020. He received his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2020. At Harvard Law School, he served as a vice president of the Harvard International Arbitration Law Students Association (HIALSA) and an in-house counsel chair of the Harvard Association for Law and Business (HALB). He was a member of the winning team of the 2017 WTO ELSA Moot Court competition. He obtained a B.A. summa cum laude from New York University in 2013, a LL.M. from IE Law School in Madrid in 2018, and a M.A. from Tsinghua University as a Schwarzman Scholar in 2019. Prior to law school, he completed a Fulbright research fellowship at the University of Toronto in 2015.Mr. Kamath is the author of “The Path to Becoming a Modern International Arbitrator: Implications for Diversity and Systemic Legitimacy,” for which he was awarded the 2020 Harvard Law School Addison Brown Prize for Private International Law, and “Setting the BRICS Dispute Resolution Centers Initiative on the Path to Success: Overcoming Startup Challenges,” AFSA Perspectives (Volume 2, 2021). He is a co-author of “Public Private Partnerships Dispute Resolution in Latin America: The Balance Between Attracting Foreign Investment and Pursuing Public Policy,” Transnational Dispute Management (Issue 4, 2020) and “Current Cybersecurity Practices in Latin American International Arbitration: A Comparative Analysis of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico,” Transnational Dispute Management (Issue 3, 2019).Mr. Kamath is a native English speaker and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
