In Russia and the CIS, the Firm Provides Domestic and International Clients with Employment and Executive Compensation Advice to Support Their Activities in the Region


The team has particular experience working alongside the firm’s prominent M&A practice. As one of the most active M&A teams in the region, Debevoise has a keen appreciation for the full range of employment issues that need to be addressed in executing high-profile, business-critical transactions. This means the team is well versed on advising on employment due diligence, engagement and retention of key employees, analysis of employee-related liabilities, legal compliance, and integration of existing benefit plans.

Outside specific transactions, the team works alongside clients to advise on issues such as global compensation and equity offerings. Working with teams in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, the practice is able to bring an international perspective to this work, meaning it is well placed to advise on both regional and global bonus and compensation plans.

The team also works closely with the firm’s highly respected privacy and data protection team to advise on related issues, including cross-border HR data transmission and global human resources information systems.

In addition to advice in specific areas, the team places an emphasis on remaining at the cutting edge of employment and migration law developments in Russia. It regularly shares insights, know-how and training on the areas that most directly impact clients’ operations.
