Eric Bérengier, an international counsel in the Paris office, is a member of the firm’s Tax Department. His practice focuses on tax issues, at both French and international levels.

Prior to joining Debevoise in 2006, Mr. Bérengier worked in the Tax Department of a leading international law firm (2001-2005). He also worked at Ernst & Young in Paris and New York as a Senior Tax Consultant (1997-2001). Mr. Bérengier is ranked as “up and coming” and praised by clients for his “detailed advice” in Chambers Europe and Chambers Global (2013 editions). Chambers Global (2012) refers to Mr. Bérengier’s “solid expertise and ‘no-nonsense approach’ to client engagements.” He is recommended by The Tax Directors Handbook (2014) and PLC Which Lawyer?

Mr. Bérengier studied at the University of Paris II-Assas, where he received a Master in Business Law (1995). He also holds a postgraduate degree in Tax Law from the Law University of Burgundy and an international diploma in European Tax Law from the School of Fiscal Sciences (ICHEC) of Brussels (1996). He has been a member of the Paris Bar since 1999.

Mr. Bérengier was the national reporter for France for the Tax Section of the International Bar Association (IBA) for 2014 and 2015.

Mr. Bérengier is fluent in French, English and Spanish.
