Laurence Hanesworth is a corporate associate and a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Private Equity, and Private Fund Transactions Groups.
He regularly advises private equity firms, their portfolio companies and other institutional investors on a full range of cross-border transactional matters. These include private and public M&A, joint ventures and minority and control investments, with a special focus on a range of secondary transactions, including continuation fund transactions, fund recapitalisations and restructurings, tender offers and purchases and sales of portfolios of LP interests, as well as co-invest transactions.
Beyond fund-related transactional experience, Mr. Hanesworth’s practice also includes a broad spectrum of capital markets work, including a range of equity and debt offerings, with particular experience working on listings on the London Stock Exchange, The International Stock Exchange and EU exchanges by Russian and European issuers. He also regularly advises clients on corporate governance matters.
Mr. Hanesworth is a co-author of “UK Proposals to Reform Listing Rules to Attract SPACs and Technology Companies,” Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance (May, 2021) and “Debevoise & Plimpton Discusses FCA’s Reforms to UK’s IPO Process,” The Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog (November, 2017).
Mr. Hanesworth joined Debevoise as a trainee solicitor in 2014, and spent some time working in Debevoise’s prior Moscow office. He graduated from King’s College, London in 2012 with an LL.B. (Hons), and completed the LPC at BPP Law School in 2013.
Mr. Hanesworth was admitted as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales in 2016. Mr. Hanesworth is fluent in Spanish.
