Speaking Engagements

Matthew D. Forbes is an associate in the Commercial Litigation Group. Mr. Forbes has litigated at all levels of the federal judiciary, including in the U.S. Supreme Court. He has argued in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Ninth Circuits, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of New York and the District of Columbia, and the New York Commercial Division. Before joining Debevoise in 2017, Mr. Forbes clerked for Judge Thomas I. Vanaskie on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and Chief Judge John R. Tunheim of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. From 2014 to 2015, he practiced at a union-side labor law firm in Washington, D.C. Mr. Forbes received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2014 and his B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2006. Prior to law school, he served on U.S. Representative Collin C. Peterson’s legislative staff from 2007 to 2011 and was a field organizer for the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party in 2006.
