Michael Woollcombe-Clarke is a barrister in the International Dispute Resolution Group, resident in London. His practice focuses on international arbitration and commercial litigation. As a barrister, Mr. Woollcombe-Clarke has full rights of audience before all courts and tribunals in England & Wales. He has experience of litigation in the United Kingdom and related jurisdictions; domestic and international arbitration under the auspices of the ICC, LCIA, LMAA and GAFTA; and ad hoc arbitral proceedings.Prior to joining Debevoise, Mr. Woollcombe-Clarke qualified at one of London’s leading commercial barristers’ chambers, following a career during which he worked as a Senior Project Engineer for Balfour Beatty US in its large projects division.Mr. Woollcombe-Clarke graduated from the University of Cambridge with First Class Honours. He has received various prizes and awards for academic excellence, including the William Charnley Prize for the Highest First-class in Law, the Astbury Scholarship (one of the most prestigious academic scholarships awarded by the Middle Temple) and the American Institute of Contractors Highest Exam Award.Mr. Woollcombe-Clarke is the author of “MWB v Rock Advertising: A Case Note,” Trinity College Law Review (December, 2016) and “The law of legal costs and why the price of justice is so disproportionately expensive. Is the juice worth the squeeze?” Legal Cheek Journal (November, 2016).
