Debevoise Partner My Chi To Appointed to Steering Committee of The 30% Club

August 2016

My Chi To, a corporate partner at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, has been appointed to the Steering Committee of The 30% Club, a group of business leaders committed to better gender balance at all levels of their organizations through voluntary actions. The U.S. chapter of The 30% Club launched in 2014 with an aspirational goal of achieving 30% women on S&P 500 boards by the end of 2020. Today, there are 58 U.S. chairman and CEO members committed to using a range of levers to achieve meaningful, sustainable change. The 30% Club is run by a Steering Committee that is made up of senior men and women who volunteer their time and skills. Debevoise partner Erica Berthou previously served on the Steering Committee, and Michael W. Blair, the firm’s presiding partner, is a member.

Ms. To is a member of the firm’s Business Restructuring & Workouts Group and represents debtors, creditors and investors in complex restructurings, bankruptcies and acquisitions of troubled companies. Ms. To also advises a wide range of clients in connection with second-lien, mezzanine and project financings and workouts as well as insurance insolvency matters.

Ranked as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 US, clients describe Ms. To as having an “impressive set of credentials and experience,” adding that she is “really business-oriented,” “unflappable” and a “terrific” lawyer, who takes “the most practical view of the situation,” “thinks through all the permutations and is great at tackling complex situations.” She is the recipient of the Kathryn R. Heidt Memorial Award, which is the highest honor granted by the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association. Ms. To also received the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s “Best Lawyers Under 40” award.

Ms. To is a member of the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association and a member of the Board of Trustees of the American College of Investment Counsel. She is also co-head of the Women’s Resource Group at Debevoise, a founding editor of the Debevoise Women’s Review, a website dedicated to topics of interest to professional women in law and business, and a member of the Leadership Council of Barnard’s Athena Center for Leadership Studies.
