Partner Matthew L. Biben has been selected to serve on the New York Law Journal’s Board of Editors.
This distinction is reserved for the top New York attorneys whose accomplishments have been recognized by the legal community, whose careers have served as a model to others and whose influence has improved the practice of law in New York and beyond. Members of the Board of Editors serve as a sounding board for news coverage, offer guidance to Law Journal reporters and help ensure that they are providing the most relevant and complete content to practitioners and legal educators around the state.
Mr. Biben is a litigation partner and member of the firm’s White Collar & Regulatory Defense Group and the Co-Chair of the firm's Banking Practice. His practice focuses on problem solving by advising organizations and individuals and investigating, negotiating and litigating complicated regulatory and enforcement matters of all types, with a particular focus on matters related to financial institutions and complex situations involving the government.
Mr. Biben has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School for more than 23 years. Among other affiliations, he sits on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including the New York Legal Assistance Group and New York Lawyers for the Public Interest. He serves as a Trustee of Cornell University. He also serves as a director of Emigrant Bank and The New York Private Bank and Trust. He serves as a Commissioner of the New York State Judicial Commission. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
