Rebecca Urquiola is an associate in the Litigation Department.

Her practice primarily focuses on white collar criminal defense, regulatory enforcement actions and internal investigations for a wide variety of corporations, financial institutions and non-profits. In particular, Ms. Urquiola assists in advising companies primarily in Latin America on compliance matters, including with respect to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the assessment and management of risks presented by potential mergers, acquisitions and other transactions.  Ms. Urquiola also devotes a significant amount of time to pro bono representation of criminal defendants, including individuals on death row in Alabama, as well as individuals seeking assistance in immigration proceedings.  

Ms. Urquiola joined Debevoise in 2017.  From 2020 to 2021 she clerked for the Hon. Kiyo Matsumoto of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Ms. Urquiola received a J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and the public affairs editor for the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. She won First Place overall and Third Best Oral Advocate at the 2015 UC Davis Asylum & Refugee Law National Moot Court Competition. She received a B.A. from Cornell University in 2014. Ms. Urquiola is fluent in Spanish.

Ms. Urquiola is a member of the New York bar. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern Districts of New York.
