In the near quarter century since the privatisation of British Airports Authority (BAA), the private sector has facilitated the delivery of hundreds of airport development projects around the globe. Successful airport privatisations continue to demonstrate the significant benefits that public private partnerships (PPPs) can offer governments in meeting their air transport needs in the face of challenging economic times, as well as providing governments with an opportunity to monetise their airport assets and fill significant budgetary gaps.
