Claire Bamber is Senior Adviser to the London Litigation Department.
Ms. Bamber advises on strategy, business development, resource management, and pastoral care. She is a qualified lawyer, and spent the early years of her career advising clients on Eastern European Emerging Markets M&A transactions. In 2001, she left corporate law practice to accept a position with the United Nations. Whilst at the UN she held a variety of legal roles with the United Nations Compensation Commission for Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait, the European Union and UN Pillars of the UN Mission to Kosovo, and the UN Office for Project Services. In 2006, Ms. Bamber was appointed as Political Affairs Officer to the UN Mission in Western Sahara. There, she advised on obtaining renewals of the mission’s mandate from the UN Security Council, was the mission liaison with the UN High Commission for Refugees in running their Confidence Building Measures Programme, and was a senior advisor to the Head of Mission. In 2008, Ms. Bamber set up and directed the Research and Liaison Unit in the Situation Centre of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York, established to analyze the causes and context of conflicts in and around UN peacekeeping missions. She returned to the UK in 2011 to take on the role of Practice Manager at the firm where she qualified, before joining Debevoise & Plimpton in 2016. Following positions as Practice Manager and Senior Practice Manger, she was appointed Senior Adviser (Litigation, London) in 2022. Ms. Bamber is a member of the Association of Women Lawyers, and of Women in Law UK.
