Shining The Light On Calif. Internet Privacy Law

California’s 2005 “Shine the Light” law, which throws a nationwide blanket of protection over California residents when they provide information to websites, appears to impose an unconstitutionally undue state burden on interstate commerce. With several plaintiffs having recently filed the first class actions seeking relief under this law, courts may have their first opportunities to consider its dubious constitutionality.
