EU Merger Control: New Notification Procedures in Effect

- With effect from 1 January 2014, a number of changes have been made to simplify the EU merger control process.
- More transactions should now qualify for simplified review by the European Commission – an estimated 60-70% of all notified mergers.
- The reforms have also reduced the amount of information required in some areas and introduce a "super-simplified procedure" for joint ventures with extra-territorial effect.
