Marjorie Menza, Pro Bono Counsel at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, has been named recipient of the 2015 Commitment to Justice Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Liaison by Her Justice.
Her Justice is a nonprofit organization that provides free legal services in family, divorce and immigration law to low-income women living in New York City. Founded in 1993, Her Justice recruits volunteer attorneys from the City’s law firms to help women who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer, and to assist them in obtaining legal protection.
As Pro Bono Counsel, and in conjunction with the Pro Bono committee, Ms. Menza manages the pro bono program for the New York office. She oversees pro bono case placement and staffing, organizes training, works on and supervises pro bono matters and works with associates and partners further to develop the pro bono program.
Ms. Menza joined the firm in 2002. She received her J.D. magna cum laude from Duke University School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif, a William B. and Grace McGuire Scholar, and a Staff Editor of the Law and Contemporary Problems Journal. She received her A.B. in German and Spanish Studies cum laude from Duke University.
