Anna Domyancic, associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, has been named a recipient of the 2019 Thurgood Marshall Award for Exceptional Pro Bono Service in the “Rising Star” category by the Federal Bar Council.
The Thurgood Marshall Award recognizes and celebrates lawyers in private practice who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to pro bono legal service, and who have provided or facilitated the provision of pro bono service in federal courts or agencies within the Second Circuit.
Ms. Domyancic is a litigation associate and a member of the firm’s White Collar & Regulatory Defense Group. Her practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, regulatory enforcement actions, and internal investigations. Ms. Domyancic also has experience handling a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters.
Ms. Domyancic maintains an active pro bono practice with a focus on asylum, immigration and family matters. She has been recognized with a Pro Bono Publico Award from the Legal Aid Society in October 2018, an Above and Beyond Pro Bono Achievement Award from Sanctuary for Families in 2017 and 2014, and the Pro Bono Service Award from the New York City Family Court in 2014. Most recently Ms. Domyancic co-led the team, alongside the Legal Aid Society, securing an important win in federal court, reuniting immigrant Pablo Villavicencio with his wife and two young daughters after over 50 days of detainment. His wife and children are U.S. citizens.
