Debevoise & Plimpton LLP announced that partner Jyotin Hamid has been elected to serve on The Executive Committee Class of 2023 of the New York City Bar Association. In this role, Mr. Hamid will help manage the general affairs of the City Bar and implement its resolutions. He has also been asked to serve as one of the City Bar’s delegates to the New York State Bar Association’s House of Delegates.
The New York City Bar Association, since its founding in 1870, has been dedicated to maintaining the high ethical standards of the legal profession, promoting reform of the law and access to justice, and providing service to the profession and the public. The Association, through its 24,000 members, continues to work for political, legal and social reform, while implementing innovative means to help the disadvantaged. Protecting the public’s welfare remains one of the Association’s highest priorities.
Mr. Hamid, a partner in the firm’s New York office, is a seasoned litigator with extensive courtroom experience. He handles a diverse array of complex litigation matters, with particular focus on employment disputes. He has successfully handled numerous whistleblower, discrimination, contract, compensation, and corporate raiding litigations involving high-level executives in a broad range of industries. Mr. Hamid served for three years as the Chair of the City Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Committee, and he served as Co-Chair of the City Bar’s Employment Law Institute for four years. He is active in the pro bono legal services community, serving as Chair of the Board of the Urban Justice Center and as a board member of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and of Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A. Mr. Hamid received his J.D. in 1998 from Yale Law School, and his B.A., summa cum laude, in 1995 from Tulane University.
