30 July 2026

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP announces that Daniel Kasell has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the Real Estate Group.

Mr. Kasell’s practice includes commercial real estate finance, credit investments, private equity real estate transactions, fund formation and distressed real estate matters, with experience advising institutional real estate investors, lenders and credit platforms across the full investment lifecycle. His arrival enables the Group to bolster its real estate credit and private lending capabilities while supplementing its existing equity practice.

Peter Furci, Presiding Partner, said, “The continued growth of private capital is reshaping real estate finance and creating increasingly sophisticated opportunities for investors, lenders and asset managers. Dan’s experience across real estate credit, finance and investment management strengthens our ability to help clients navigate those opportunities.”

Edward Rishty, Chair of the Real Estate Group, said, “Dan brings a rare combination of law firm and in-house investment platform experience, offering clients practical insight into how lenders and investors evaluate, structure and execute transactions. His arrival deepens our bench strength, expands our offerings to clients and enhances our ability to advise on sophisticated real estate transactions.”

Mr. Kasell said, “The convergence of real estate, private credit and asset management is creating significant opportunities for investors and lenders. With its strong platform, deep institutional client relationships and existing real estate capabilities, Debevoise is well-positioned to help clients capitalize on these opportunities in meaningful ways. I am excited to contribute my experience to the continued growth of that practice and to join such a talented team.”

Mr. Kasell joins Debevoise from TPG Real Estate Credit, where he served as Senior Advisor. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at Square Mile Capital Management, ultimately serving as Chief Legal Officer. Earlier in his career, he practiced at another international law firm.

Mr. Kasell received his J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and his B.A. from Cornell University. He also received a Certificate in Real Estate Finance and Investment from New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate.
