Achutha Raman is a law clerk in the Litigation Department. Mr. Raman assisted in developing Debevoise’s Suite of Tools for Assessing AI Risk (“STAAR”), a groundbreaking client AI platform. STAAR brings together a comprehensive collection of practical tools—including a vetted use-case library, policy templates, and regulatory trackers—and has been profiled by Law.com (“Debevoise & Plimpton Is Building a New Model for Delivering AI Adoption Advice”) and Law360 (“Debevoise Builds Tool to Help In-House Attys Assess AI Risk”). In December 2025, STAAR won the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America Awards in the “Innovation in New Legal Products” category. In March 2026, Debevoise launched STAAR 2.0, an enhanced version of its client facing AI platform. STAAR 2.0 converts the knowledge gained from years of advising over 100 clients on complex AI related regulatory compliance and transactional matters into a practical searchable workspace.
Mr. Raman joined Debevoise and received a J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School in 2024. During law school, he interned in Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter's Office at the Federal Trade Commission and served as editor-in-chief for the Michigan Technology Law Review. He received a B.A. from Yale University in 2016.
