Barry R. Bryan is a retired partner who practiced as a corporate lawyer with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP for 43 years. From July 1993 to July 1998 he served as the firm’s fifth Presiding Partner.

Mr. Bryan joined Debevoise as an associate in 1958 and became a partner in 1963. His practice focused on securities, financial and international corporate matters. From 1970-73, Mr. Bryan managed the firm’s Paris office. He served of counsel to the firm from 1999 to 2001. Prior to joining Debevoise, he served as a legal adviser in the Office of the General Counsel to the Secretary of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Bryan is a 1952 graduate of Yale College and received his J.D. cum laude from Yale Law School in 1955, where he was articles editor of the Yale Law Journal. Mr. Bryan was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and attended Trinity College, Cambridge University, where he received a Diploma in Comparative Legal Studies in 1956. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the American Bar Association.
