Caroline Swett is a partner and member of the firm’s Financial Institutions, Banking, Special Situations and ESG Groups. She advises domestic and foreign banks and other financial institutions on a wide range of regulatory, enforcement and transactional matters.
Ms. Swett has particular experience advising financial institutions on complex Regulation W issues, governance mechanisms and practices, supervisory examinations and downgrades, regulatory permissibility, charter formations and Fintech acquisitions.
In addition, she assists boards of directors and senior management with internal investigations and self-assessments. She also advises and advocates on behalf of financial institutions on emerging financial regulatory issues, including climate change. Ms. Swett writes and speaks on these matters regularly and is recognized as a “Next Generation Partner” by The Legal 500 US (2023) and as an “Up and Coming” attorney by Chambers USA (2023). Ms. Swett joined Debevoise in 2012. She received a J.D. from Yale Law School in 2012 and a B.A. from Brown University in 2006. From 2006 to 2009, Ms. Swett worked at Gerson Lehrman Group in business strategy as well as energy and geopolitical risk research services in the company’s New York City and New Delhi offices.
