David Clifton is a law clerk in the Litigation Department.

Mr. Clifton joined Debevoise in 2025. He received his J.D. with High Honors from the University of Chicago, where he was a Kirkland & Ellis Scholar and a recipient of the Pro Bono Service Initiative Award and the Dean’s Award for best exam in a section of Civil Procedure I. While at Chicago, he was a member of The University of Chicago Law Review and the Abrams Environmental Law Clinic, and he reached the top 32 at the international rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. He received his M.Phil. from the University of Oxford and his A.B. cum laude from Harvard University.
