Federico Fragachán is a litigation associate and a member of the International Dispute Resolution Group. His practice focuses on investment and international commercial arbitration.Mr. Fragachán has represented private clients across multiple jurisdictions in arbitrations governed by various substantive laws and conducted under the rules of ICSID, UNCITRAL, and ICC. He has recently represented clients in disputes concerning the impositions of tax measures, breach of mining investment agreements and nonpayment of sovereign debt. His select representations include Freeport-McMoRan in an ICSID arbitration brought against the Government of Peru with claims in excess of US$1 billion; and Gramercy in an UNCITRAL arbitration against the Government of Peru arising out of Peru’s measures relating to Agrarian Reform Bonds.Prior to joining Debevoise in 2019, Mr. Fragachán practiced from 2015 to 2018 with an international law firm in Caracas, Venezuela. Mr. Fragachán received an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 2019 and an M.Fin. from Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración in 2018. He graduated summa cum laude and first in his class with a law degree from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in 2015, where he also served as law professor from 2016 to 2018. Mr. Fragachán is admitted to practice law in New York and Venezuela. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
