IAIS Proposes Measures for Enhanced G-SII Supervision

- On October 17, 2012 the IAIS published proposed measures to be applied to global systemically important insurers. The measures propose separating "traditional" insurance activities from "non-traditional non insurance" activities, with enhanced supervision particularly for NTNI activities.
- The measures call for a consolidated group supervisor for G-SIIs and would require advanced resolution planning and higher loss absorption in G-SIIs.
- The IAIS requests comments on the proposed measures on or before December 16, 2012.
