Russia Limits Foreign Ownership in Mass Media to 20% in 2016

Effective January 1, 2016, Russia will prohibit foreigners from controlling in any form a shareholding of more than 20% in mass media companies, including print publications, on-line media, television and radio channels.
Non-compliance may result in the suspension of the activities of the mass media company, the invalidity of the rights of its foreign shareholders and the nullity of transactions.
