Fines for Personal Data Violations in Russia Increase as of July 1, 2017

On January 27, 2017, the Russian State Duma adopted a bill differentiating administrative liability for violations of personal data laws and increasing respective administrative fines for individuals, officers and legal entities. If the bill is approved by the Federation Council and signed by the Russian President, it will come into force on July 1, 2017.
From that date, the maximum administrative fine for company officers will constitute RUB 20,000 (approx. USD 333) and for legal entities, RUB 75,000 (approx. USD 1,250).
