View Debevoise Update
California has amended the California Consumer Privacy Act, which was passed in June 2018, to provide broader exemptions for both certain entities and specific information.
The exemptions apply to “covered entities” governed by HIPAA’s privacy, security and breach notification rules and “providers of health care” governed by California’s Confidentiality of Medical Information Act.
The amendments also provide exemptions for certain information, including specified health and medical information and personal financial information.
