John Curry is a retired partner who is of counsel to the firm. Mr. Curry’s practice concentrates on complex domestic and international financings, notably aircraft financing transactions, including capital markets offerings of leveraged lease debt and enhanced equipment trust (EETC) certificates secured by aircraft, aircraft engines or spare parts. Mr. Curry estimates that he has participated in the leasing, financing or refinancing of well over a thousand commercial jet aircraft over the years. In addition, Mr. Curry has worked on a number of large fleet restructurings, including the Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructurings of American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

Mr. Curry is ranked as a Band 1 aviation finance lawyer by Chambers USA, where clients note that he is “one of the smartest people I have ever met” and praise his “deep expertise” and “unusual combination of seeing the big picture and all of the details simultaneously.” Peers report that “his technical skills are off the charts.” He is also a member of The Legal 500 US Hall of Fame, and has been described in that publication as a “guru of aircraft finance and leasing” with “exceptional intellect.”

Mr. Curry received his B.A. from Yale University in 1978 and his J.D. from Columbia University in 1981.
