- Barrick (PD) Australia Pty Limited in an ICSID arbitration, and Barrick (Niugini) Limited in an ICSID conciliation, both with the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, arising out of the Government’s refusal to renew a special mining lease held over the Porgera Gold Mine.
- Bulyanhulu Gold Mine Limited and Pangea Minerals Limited, subsidiaries of Acacia Mining plc, in an arbitration against the United Republic of Tanzania under the UNCITRAL Rules.
- An engineering and commissioning contractor in a multibillion dollar ICC arbitration seated in Singapore concerning the disputed termination of an EPC subcontract to build and commission a combined-cycle power plant at an Australian LNG facility.
- CH2M Hill Companies, Ltd. in successfully defending an application for the proper construction of a parent company guarantee in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and subsequently obtaining a unanimous dismissal of an appeal to the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

- An oil and gas producer in an international commercial arbitration seated in Singapore under the SIAC Rules concerning the acquisition of shares in two Indonesian oil and gas exploration companies.
- A global grain handling company in defense of proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria brought by an agribusiness major concerning the sale of a barley malt producer.
- A Dutch-flagged cargo ship in defense of a collision claim and in pursuit of cross claims in the admiralty jurisdiction of the Federal Court of Australia.

Justin R. Rassi is an associate in the firm’s International Dispute Resolution Group, resident in New York. He has a broad-gauged practice spanning international arbitration and litigation.Over the past ten years, Mr. Rassi has represented clients in disputes on every continent except Antarctica. He has particular experience in mining, natural resources, and construction disputes arising out of Australia, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. Leveraging a degree in corporate finance, Mr. Rassi regularly advises clients on complex damages issues.In addition to international commercial and investor-state arbitrations under a wide range of arbitral rules—including the ICC, ICSID, LCIA, PCA, SIAC, and UNCITRAL Rules—Mr. Rassi has also represented clients in ICSID conciliation proceedings, International Court of Justice proceedings, and litigation proceedings in the United States and Australia.Mr. Rassi maintains an active pro bono constitutional and civil rights litigation practice in U.S. courts, with a particular emphasis on LGBTQ+ rights. He has led or worked on matters in Arizona, Colorado, New York, Ohio, and Oregon.Mr. Rassi is active in professional organizations. He currently leads the Americas subcommittee of the Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC) Committee and served as rapporteur to the ICCA-ASIL Task Force on Damages in International Arbitration. Mr. Rassi regularly guest lectures on damages in international arbitration at the New York University School of Law.Before joining Debevoise in 2016, Mr. Rassi clerked for the Hon. Justice V.M. Bell AC of the High Court of Australia, practiced in a leading international law firm in Australia, and taught tort law at the Australian National University. The High Court of Australia is the supreme court in Australia.Mr. Rassi received an LL.M. from the New York University School of Law in 2016, specializing in International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration (“IBRLA”), where he held the Arthur T. Vanderbilt scholarship. Graduating at the top of his specialization, Mr. Rassi received the IBRLA Award for academic merit. Mr. Rassi received an LL.B. with First Class Honors and a B.Com degree in finance from the University of New South Wales in 2012, where he was an editor of the University of New South Wales Law Journal.Mr. Rassi is admitted as an Attorney and Counselor-at-Law in the State of New York and as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Mr. Rassi is also admitted to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and for the District of Colorado, the High Court of Australia, and all courts exercising federal jurisdiction in Australia.
