Karen Joo is an associate in the Litigation Department and a member of the firm’s Data Strategy & Security and White Collar & Regulatory Defense practice groups. Ms. Joo joined Debevoise in 2023.
Ms. Joo received a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School in 2023, where she was an articles editor of the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law, and a legal extern at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. Ms. Joo received a B.Eng. with distinction from McGill University in 2018.
Ms. Joo is the author of “Missing Doctrines in Fifth Circuit Caselaw: Injury and Causation in Environmental Litigators’ Standing,” 25 University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law 1502 (2023), and a co-author of “Risk of AI Abuse by Corporate Insiders Presents Challenges for Compliance Departments,” NYU Compliance & Enforcement (March, 2024); and “Real-Time Deepfakes May Necessitate Enhancements to Wire Transfer BEC Policies,” NYU Compliance & Enforcement (January, 2024).
Ms. Joo is an active member of the New York City Bar Association, where she serves on the Technology, Cybersecurity & Privacy Law Committee. She is a member of the New York bar.
