Matthew Delja is a counsel* based in the San Francisco office and a member of the firm’s M&A Group. His practice focuses on private equity and strategic clients in the M&A market, with a concentration in growth equity, joint ventures, cross border deals and climate transactions.

Prior to rejoining Debevoise, Mr. Delja was Deputy General Counsel (Registered In-House Counsel in California) at TPG’s Growth, Rise and Rise Climate Funds in San Francisco. Earlier in his career, he was an associate at Debevoise in the M&A Group in New York City and did a secondment to the Legal Division of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Delja received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2013, where he was senior articles editor of the NYU Journal of International Law and Politics, his M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge, St John’s College in 2008 and his B.A. magna cum laude from Loyola Marymount University in 2007. Mr. Delja is a member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens.
