Debevoise & Plimpton LLP has been shortlisted by LawWorks in its annual pro bono awards. The firm is one of three finalists in the “Best Contribution by an International Firm” category.
The awards recognize and celebrate achievement in legal pro bono work undertaken by organizations and individuals in England and Wales. The finalists represent the breadth and range of pro bono delivery and innovation across the profession.
Debevoise has a long established commitment to pro bono work. Over the last year, the firm’s London office has continued that commitment through a range of activities. Key projects for the office include a consumer advice clinic run alongside Hackney Community Law Centre and other partners, which provides around 150 members of the Hackney community with help annually; a social enterprise clinic run in conjunction with UnLtd, which has advised over 400 start-ups to date; playing a central role in developing the Lawyers Volunteering for the Arts Scheme, which allows commercial firms to offer support to low income arts organizations across the country; and a number of high profile litigation cases of international significance, including devoting significant resources working on anti-gay challenges for the Human Dignity Trust.
