Samantha J. Rowe, a London and Paris-based partner at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, has been named in The Lawyer magazine’s annual Hot 100 list, which recognizes the profession’s most innovative and inspirational lawyers.
The 2019 edition of the list includes lawyers from in-house, private practice and the bar, focussing on those who “are at the top of their game right now – the ones acting on the most significant matters, disrupting the industry with their creative flair or transforming their organisations”.
In this year’s list, The Lawyer explored the “precedent-setting cases” Ms. Rowe advises on, including representing The State of Qatar and Qatari entities and individuals in international claims arising out of the measures imposed by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Egypt against Qatar, including winning an order for provisional measures in proceedings before the International Court of Justice against the United Arab Emirates, investment arbitrations and claims in other international tribunals.
Ms. Rowe is a partner in the International Dispute Resolution and Business Integrity Groups at Debevoise. She is a solicitor advocate of the Senior Courts of England & Wales, and is admitted to the New York Bar. Ms. Rowe’s practice focuses on international arbitration and public international law. She has represented private clients and States across multiple jurisdictions (most notably, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe) in arbitrations governed by various substantive laws and conducted under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL and SIAC. She has experience across a broad range of industries and sectors, including energy, mining, construction, financial services and pharmaceuticals. Ms. Rowe is fluent in French and Spanish and proficient in Portuguese, and frequently handles contentious matters involving these languages.
Ms. Rowe is noted for International Arbitration and Public International Law in The Legal 500 UK (2018) and is named by Who’s Who Legal in its Future Leaders list.
