Sergej Bräuer Joins Debevoise as International Counsel in the Antitrust & Competition Group

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP announced today that Sergej Bräuer has joined the firm’s Frankfurt office as an international counsel in the Antitrust & Competition Group. 

In this role, Mr. Bräuer will advise the firm’s clients on antitrust and competition matters, including coordinating merger approvals and obtaining clearance for complex merger investigations before the European Commission and German competition authorities.

Mr. Bräuer brings to the firm deep experience advising national and international clients on all aspects of German and EU antitrust law, including in cartel damages cases, merger control proceedings, antitrust proceedings, and compliance management.

Prior to joining Debevoise, Mr. Bräuer worked at another international law firm. Earlier in his career, he spent more than ten years at one of Germany’s leading domestic law firms.

Mr. Bräuer is admitted as Rechtsanwalt in Germany.

Debevoise’s Antitrust & Competition practice in Europe, led by Timothy McIver, works as part of the firm’s global team offering advice on all aspects of competition and antitrust matters. The European team specializes in securing regulatory clearances for complex international mergers and acquisitions before the European Commission and national competition authorities, both across Europe and worldwide. On the contentious side, the team has broad experience advising on behavioural matters including EU and national investigations of alleged abuses of dominance, as well as cartel and other antitrust investigations (e.g. sectoral inquiries/market investigations).
