Debevoise Of Counsel Michael Mukasey Named The American Lawyer’s Lifetime Achievement Honoree

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP of counsel and former U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey has been named one of the recipients of The American Lawyer’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes lawyers who have had extraordinary careers at some of the country’s most prominent law firms and legal institutions, and whose public service contributions have had far-reaching impact on the profession. Judge Mukasey has had a distinguished career at the highest levels of government and private practice. He served as the 81st U.S. Attorney General from 2007 to 2009 and was a U.S. district judge for the Southern District of New York for 18 years, including six years as Chief Judge. During his time on the bench, he presided over some of the nation’s most sensitive and high-profile national security cases, including those charged in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Following his service as Attorney General, Judge Mukasey joined Debevoise in 2009, where he has advised clients on complex investigations, enforcement actions and litigation. His practice draws on decades of experience at the intersection of law, policy and public service. Earlier in his career, he served for four years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, including as Chief of the Official Corruption Unit.
