Robert Cubitto, a retired partner and once member of the Tax Department, focused his practice on tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions transactions, including acquisition finance and executive compensation.

 

He has represented clients in the organization of private investment funds and in controversies with the Internal Revenue Service, and on directors and officers liability insurance placement issues for private equity firms.

Cubitto joined Debevoise in 1978 and became a partner in 1985.  He received a B.A. in economics summa cum laude from the University of Arizona in 1972, a B.S.B.A. in accounting summa cum laude from the University of Arizona in 1974 and a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1976.  Prior to joining Debevoise,  Cubitto was a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group.  He is admitted to the bar in New York and Massachusetts, and has been admitted to appear in the U.S. Tax Court, the Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of New York.
