Sara Kaufhardt is an associate in the Litigation Department.

Ms. Kaufhardt joined Debevoise in 2022. From 2021-2022, she served as a Judicial Fellow for the Hon. Judge Patrick Robinson at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Ms. Kaufhardt received a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2021, where she was a James Kent Scholar, and was awarded the David M. Berger Memorial Prize in International Law and the Parker School Certificate of Achievement in Foreign and Comparative Law. She also served as a notes editor for the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. During law school, Ms. Kaufhardt was a member of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Team at Columbia Law, which finished as World Runner Up in the 2019 competition. Ms. Kaufhardt received a B.A. with honors from the University of California, Berkeley in 2018.

Ms. Kaufhardt is the author of “Impunity for Burning the Earth’s Lungs: The Legality of Deforestation Under International Law and the Quest to Preserve the World’s Biodiversity,” Columbia Journal of Transnational Law (2021). She is proficient in French.
