Sigridur Maria Egilsdottir (“Sigga”) is an associate in the Litigation Department.

Ms. Egilsdottir joined Debevoise in 2021. She received an LL.M. in International Economic Law, Business and Policy from Stanford Law School in 2020, where she was chosen as the LL.M. cohort’s commencement speaker and was a member editor of the Stanford Journal of International Law. She received an M.L. in Law, First Class, from Reykjavik University in 2019, and a B.A. in Law from Reykjavik University in 2018, where she received the award for Best Academic Result.

Prior to coming to the United States for law school, Ms. Egilsdottir served as a Deputy Member of Parliament in Iceland. She was formerly “Iceland’s Champion Debater”, and has been a frequent speaker in international conferences on gender equality, including presentations sponsored by the BBC, TedX, and Ernst Young.

Ms. Egilsdottir is a native Icelandic speaker and is fluent in English.
