Sunil W. Savkar is a corporate partner and member of the Finance Group. His practice focuses on complex acquisition and leveraged financings.

Mr. Savkar is consistently ranked as one of the top finance practitioners in the field. He is recommended by The Legal 500 for Finance (2015–2021) and by IFLR1000 as a Leading Lawyer (2015–2020) and Highly Regarded (2018–2023). Mr. Savkar has primarily advised private equity clients and their portfolio companies, and public and private companies, in senior and junior credit facilities, mezzanine and subordinated financings and high-yield offerings. His transactions have included numerous large and middle-market domestic and international financing transactions.

Mr. Savkar joined Debevoise in 2019. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Savkar was a member of the Finance Group at a leading international law firm, where he became a partner in 2007.

Mr. Savkar received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, Kent Scholar and Articles Editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. He received his Master’s of Engineering and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. Mr. Savkar worked in the semiconductor and computer industries for five years before attending law school and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Mr. Savkar also previously served as the U.S. Board Chair of Breakthrough, a global human rights non-profit organization.
