Amy C. Zimmerman is an associate in the Litigation Department and a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation group. Ms. Zimmerman’s practice focuses on securities and shareholder disputes, consumer class actions, mergers and acquisitions litigation, and complex commercial disputes. She has litigated in federal court as well as in the Delaware Court of Chancery. Ms. Zimmerman also maintains an active pro bono practice, with a particular emphasis on LGBTQ+ rights.
Ms. Zimmerman joined Debevoise in 2019. She served as a law clerk for the Hon. Gerard E. Lynch, Second Circuit Court of Appeals, from 2018 to 2019. Ms. Zimmerman received her J.D. magna cum laude from the New York University School of Law in 2017, where she was a Florence Allen Scholar, a member of the Order of the Coif, and a winner of the Vanderbilt Medal. She was an executive editor of the New York University Law Review and a fellow for the Center for Administration of Criminal Justice. Ms. Zimmerman received her B.A. in Literature with distinction from Yale University.
Prior to law school, Ms. Zimmerman worked extensively with LGBTQ+ groups on same-sex marriage rights in both New York and Massachusetts, including serving as a director on the board of GLAAD, and as vicechair of the board of the Empire State Pride Agenda. Ms. Zimmerman also served as the Chair of the Board of the Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School from 2011 through 2018.
